weight loss and effort

Good morning....Football Sunday,....Skins fans...i think you guys will win today....Giants get another easy one...Baltimore will beat New England....

Okay...all of you reading this are putting in effort....you are taking time in which you could do something else more fun to read Posner's thoughts that will perhaps help you stay focused on your efforts. Going to a football tailgate event and not drinking beer, eating carbs etc...lots of effort. Getting to thatb gym and devoting time to workout...lots of effort. Planning your meals when you travel and confronting food placed in front of you at conventions: lots of effort.

Gaining weight requires NO effort...the loss of weight requires GREAT effort.

Your effort will pay off huge dividends in the future with much better health and happiness. Make the effort ...it is soooo worth it

Good morning
It is a lot of effort and I did not realize it until I slowly watched my weight increase over the years and realized it was soooo hard to take it off and keep it off. I think with all of the demands in life, I just wanted to eat and be happy. Not obessively eat, but just eat. But for me, one carb leads to many and then my work outs slow down and then I can easily justify fast food instead of packing my various meals in the morning. It is a lot of effort. But, I have taken my supplements, will have breakfast and take a four mile walk. It is a lot of effort, but I truly believe it is worth it!!

Hi! Just another thought. When we have any major life event what do we do? We plan for it. Sell a house? Clean, paint organize.. get it ready to show. Buy a house. Go off to college.. Get married. Go on vacation?... all of these things mean time set aside, pre planning and budgeting. We want the best from these experiences. Why not want the best from this new health experience as well.

So... maybe think of the weight loss journey as time worth planning... giving yourself the BEST of the experience. Try out fun things to move your body. Experiment with new (healthy) recipes, foods you may not have tried before. Create once a week a healthy meal representing a different country.

When we take a vacation it is partly to get away from the routine of life. So maybe old patterns of inactivity and convenience foods can be the routine.. and healthy eating and more activity can be just breaking away, in a FUN way, from that routine??

I think of it like handing someone a set of tools to build a house. There are those of us that might stand there and scratch our heads convinced this is just not our thing.. However, hand those tools to a master carpenter and not only will he/she build a house it will probably be of the finest lasting materials and solid structure.. very little will shake it's foundation.

Like the master carpenter, if we can find joy in what we are creating then it can seam less like work. And yes, that builder does have those exausted days sweating it out to put up the structure... yet at the end of the day he/she gets to stand back and say look what I built.

So we get a set of instructions and tools...does it have to be drugery? Or can we switch it up to enjoy the creating/building process.

Old addage: Good news, bad news.. We get to CHOOSE how we feel about most anything we experience..

My weight loss journey has not been a perfect experience, but it has certainly taken me on roads I never dared travel before. And the new friends met on that path.. priceless!

Anything worth having will require an investment of time and effort to maintain it... your home, car, prized collections, long standing friendships, your health. Might as well enjoy the time you put into it. :) DH44
