weight loss and holidays

First, I would ask that questions about pricing and other logistical questions about our program be addressed not as a comment to this blog but rather directly to our office: 703-866-4144

The upcomign week is spring break for many with school age children. This often involves travel to areas where it is very challenging to remain on a high protein high vegetable, low carb/low fruit food intake strategy,

If you are in fact leaving the area for soem vacation destination try very hard to seek restaurants that offer you choices compatible with your food needs. Buffet restaurants are not a good choice. Eating meals at theme parks also present a challenge. Additionally, if your trip involves many driving hours, planning in advance where you will stop to eat may have a very favorable effect on your efforts to "stay the course".

Additionally, psychologically, sometimes we mentally feel that we "need a break" from "dieting". Try to mentate throiugh this....we are NOT "dieting" but rather, trying to change lifestyle to allow us to be happier , healthier, look younger etc.

Plan your trip carefully and think about how you can have a great time on your trip and not derail your efforts.

Dr. Posner, my apologies on yesterday's comment, I should have known better. I will indeed call and discuss those items with you and your staff.

Dr. Posner, do you have ESP?! :-)
your blogs on resolve and choices and on maintaining the program while traveling were exactly what i had been pondering the last 2 nights. an emergency plan to fly to oklahoma to see our very ill grandma tonight brought swift and heavy stress. i had just talked myself through ways to maintain the program while only on week 2 and why i needed to do so, when i saw this post.

the other night i just asked my church to pray that i find the resolve, strength and courage to succeed and make the right choices in the program and then came your post!

oh and btw, when i hit a rough block in the road, medically, you and your staff stepped in right away and helped me.

then today in the office, you showed excitement and gave encouragement and smiled about my efforts. how cool is that?! kudos to you and to your staff!!!! thanks for putting concrete around my shaky wooden posts...(grin).

well, ok, what happens when all intentions were great but you CHOSE to not follow the program for an entire day. (no meds, no eating. then eating what you aren't allowed.) The stress was horrible, the food resources difficult and at the end of a very emotional day, you insisted on reverting to your old ways willingly for "just one day." Truthfully, I'm not asking about guilt or remorse afterwards. It was a full blown conscious and resolute decision. The "plan" is to go back on "the plan" today. But, what have we done to our body that was in phase 1, week 2, and what do we have to do to gain the ground we had made so far? Do we go though some sort of recoup time physically before our body will be at that level again? If so, what should we expect that amount of time to be like.
