weight and other countries

Off to London this morning...embarrassing Posner factoid: he has NEVER used his passport before...pathetic, yes??? His chosen profession as a solo primary care physician has precluded long trips, but today he ventures out to a new world.

I am very curious to see if England has the same weight problems as America. I am told by a number of my Latin American patients that in their countries, they do not have even close to the obesity epidemic we have here in the U.S. Why??? Is it corporate America brainwashing us to eat at fast food restaurants? Is it the high fructose sweeteners used in many products? Are our social events more about food and alcohol than other countries? Are we less "vain" than other cultures? I am interested to see your insights, especially from anyone who has lived outside of the U.S. Please post something on our chat at: www.spdiet.com

Will check in tomorrow..tally ho!!!

Dr.Posner,

Have a lovely trip to London.
It is my observation having lived outside US ..it is mainly the walking that is built into one's daily life and the home cooked meals from mostly fresh ingredients helps keep the weight off! But times are changing! Waiting to hear your opinion after your visit to London!
